Words Become Familiar in Context

Sets 16–25 complete this first vocabulary foundation. Keep meeting words inside short phrases: أُمَّةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ (one community), نُورُ الْهُدَى (the light of guidance), and أَجْرٌ كَبِيرٌ (a great reward).

أُمَّةٌ وَاحِدَةٌOne community.
إِنْسَانٌ طَيِّبٌA good human being.

أُمَّة points to a community united by purpose; قَوْم often points to a people or nation. وَاحِد means one in number, while أَحَد expresses unique oneness.

Notice how a familiar word gains its precise shade from the phrase around it.

إِنَّ هَٰذِهِ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةًIndeed, this community of yours is one community.
قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌSay: He is Allah, the uniquely One.
خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًاThey will remain there forever.
